Epping Secondary College

Epping Secondary College is a co-educational college which began back in 1976. The suburb of Epping has seen substantial growth in industry and infrastructure over the past fifteen years. Recent planning initiatives in the City of Whittlesea have seen rapid growth in housing around South Morang, Mill Park and Epping.

The current student population is 815 with approximately the same number of boys as girls. The three main feeder schools are Epping, Meadowglen and Greenbrook Primary Schools. The college is an harmonious multicultural community with students and staff from a range of nationalities.

Epping Secondary College is organised into three Units: A Year 7 and 8 Unit supporting transition through an integrated learning program, a Year 9 and 10 Unit with all Year 10 students doing a VCE subject and a Senior Unit offering a more adult learning environment. A comprehensive VCE program and a VET in Schools program is in operation. For the past five years the college has run an alternative Pathways program for Year 10 students to address the needs of students exploring a range of Pathways. The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) was introduced in 2003, and now both Intermediate and Senior VCAL are running. The college community holds the core values of Commitment, Respect, Honesty and Fairness as guiding its behaviours. There is a strong tradition of pastoral care and support programs for students to address individual needs and equity issues. The college has a full time Student Welfare Co-ordinator, a Nurse for two days a week as part of the School Nursing Program, as well as a Youth Worker for 3 days.
